I think there is nothing more inviting and relaxing than a clean home. Now we are a family of seven, so I am well aware that having the entire home clean at once is an ongoing challenge. Quick pick-ups and floor-sweeping are part of my hourly routine (every day). But I find it helpful to keep a running list of things that aren’t so obvious — things that aren’t staring me in the face every day screaming CLEAN ME UP (AKA all the things I don’t want to have to do).
- Wipe down baseboards
- Dust ceiling corners/crown molding
- Use a toothbrush to close-clean around sink faucets
- Sanitize showerhead, faucet, and drain
- Pour some vinegar down kitchen sink drains to help remove smells
- Wipe down cabinet doors
- Sanitize cabinet handles/knobs
- Lift the stovetop to wipe down and sanitize between heating elements
- Move the stove out of its spot to sweep, mop, and wipe down any drips down the sides
- Clear off, wipe down and organize shelves
- Use sanitizing wipes for extra cleaning behind the toilet
- Vacuum under couches
- Vacuum under beds
- Sanitize/polish headboard and footboard of beds
- Sanitize doorknobs and light switches
- Sanitize the handrail in the stairwell
- Clean outside of windows
- Clean out dishwasher filter (you can YouTube your exact model for an easy DIY)
- Degrease inside the microwave (heating a bowl of vinegar makes this easy)
- Move the refrigerator out to dust behind and under it
- Run cleaner like Affresh through the washing machine
- Vinegar opening of faucets to break up any mineral buildup
- Wipe down inside light fixtures (and clear out any bugs)
- Wipe tops of outlets to remove dust
- Check inside window frames to remove bugs
- Wash window treatments
- Pressure wash/wipe down siding or exterior of the home
- Vacuum under couch cushions
- Wipe down any furniture legs with curves to remove dust buildup
- Pull out vanity drawers and remove fallen items
- Dissemble sink drain to remove caught debris to create faster water drainage
- Change air vent filters
- Change water filters
- Clean out refrigerator
- Remove window screens, spray clean with water hose and replace
